Security at Kaflavik, Iceland
Keflavik is Iceland’s main airport. It is located 40km from the capital Reykjavik and has been voted “the best airport in Europe” by the Airports Council International organisation. The project requirement was to secure the apron area and detect, track and identify objects (people, vehicles etc) moving into, or out of this area. A solution based on fence wire detection and thermal cameras was considered but discounted on the basis on cost. The final solution consisted of three Navtech AdvanceGuard high definition radar sensors, which were configured with user definable security zones and automated camera control.
